Why does my cat do this to me?

He could be sitting happily with my parents or sleeping, but as soon as I come out he starts screeching at me for food, loudly, he'll stand there staring up at me with his mouth wide open shrieking for food, my father is the one who usually feeds him, but lately he just wants me feeding him only...and he's very demanding about it.
